Sunrise Commissioner Mark Douglas Selected as Florida Panthers "Celebration of Black Excellence" Honoree

Sunrise City Commissioner Mark A. Douglas has been recognized by the Florida Panthers Hockey Club via their “Celebration of Black Excellence” program. This important initiative—part of the team’s annual observance of Black History Month—honors Black elected officials, executives, educators and other South Florida leaders for their hard work, dedication and service to our community. Commissioner Douglas was notified of his selection by Florida Panthers CEO Matt Caldwell, who wrote: “We would be honored to feature you in this program as we believe that your story and perspective would be a great addition to our month-long celebration.” Commissioner Douglas will be recognized at Amerant Bank Arena during the Panthers’ Black History Night celebration on February 24th, when the team hosts the Washington Capitals.
