Karen Freeman-Wilson, NLC president and mayor of Gary, Indiana, appointed Mark A. Douglas to the position late last month.
“Our federal advocacy committees help ensure that policymakers in Washington know what’s happening on the ground in our communities – and what is needed from our federal partners,” she said. “I am proud to have Mark A. Douglas join NLC’s Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations committee on behalf of his residents. Together with a team of local leaders from around the country, we will work to solve the most pressing challenges facing our communities.”
The committee has the lead responsibility for developing the organization’s federal policy positions on issues involving national economic policy, general financial assistance programs, liability insurance, intergovernmental relations, census, municipal bonds and capital finance, municipal management, antitrust issues, citizen participation and civil rights, labor relations, Native American sovereignty and municipal authority, according to the news release.
